I havent uploaded much art except for my Graphic novel lately, although ive actually done alot of art, but most of it are unfinished sketches.
This one is a speedpainting (ca. 30-45mins), of a Tree that will later also appear in the Lullaby of Al'Sura :3
These trees are called Eccet fad'Sol (translated from Sujan, it means "Hands of the nightly sun"), and they are the sacred tree's of the Suja. They originally grew underground below rivers and filtered the water through the ceiling. The excessive water pours out through the trunk again (its not so well seen here, but the trees has a few openings through which small waterfalls pour. The tree, because grown underground, has no need for photosynthesis and thus has no leafs, instead, it has large knobs at the end of each branch, which contains a large seed that glows in the dark. If the seed is "ripe", it becomes too large for the knob to contain and it breaks through, usually dropping into the water and being carried to its ground, resulting in a tree growing from the bottom of the river into another hollow cave. Afterwards, the twigs that once contained the seed regrow.
The feature of the knobs closing again after the twigs broke also stays intact on a dead branch that was cut off from the tree, if it is put into water (similar to the Roses of Jericho). Due to this feature, the branches of the Eccet fad'Sol were popularly used as wandering staffs or to contain enchanted spheres. (The knobs look somewhat like in this pic by the way : [link]) Due to this, many of the overground tree's have gradually extinct, and only around 3-5 trees still exist in the northern deserts by Al'Sura.
The Trees are also part of the Sujan religion, but i wont bother explaining that now, since it might need a bit preknowledge beforehand. Beside, it will be part of the story in a while :3

The amount of description! O_o I'm always amazed at the thoughts you've put into the Al'Sura world. It's an interesting concept and painting (maybe worth fleshing out more completely?)
